The UK based YOTEL was designed to be a different kind of hotel ever experienced before by travelers. This past June, YOTEL opened its first hotel in the US. This huge, full-service hotel hopes to sell its 650+ tiny but stylish rooms at great prices. It's located just a few blocks west of Times Square on 10th Avenue at 42nd Street. Recently while shopping at Bloomies I met two lovely sisters (Ange + Vernice Walker) who were offering complimentary manicures with their gorgeous line of nail polish, aptly called Rococo Nail Apparel. The duo designed the nails for all models at the Roland Mouret Fall 2011 runway show during Paris Fashion Week, debuting their ‘Nude Wardrobe’ collection which is exclusively at Space NK. Celebrity fans of Rococo include Agyness Deyn, Lizzy Jagger, Alexa Chung, Nicki Minaj, Kim Cattrall and the list goes on. Derby Dreams
Starting tomorrow you'll be able to enjoy roller-skating right under the High Line, brought to us by UNIQLO. Open until the end of September, the High Line Rink will be one of the only open-air roller-skating venues in Manhattan, with regularly scheduled theme nights and other fun public activities for New Yorkers and visitors of all ages. Mojito Popsicles
Make simple syrup: cook 1/4 cup sugar, 1/4 cup water over medium low heat until the sugar dissolves.
Puree with 1/3 cup rum, 1/2 cup mint leaves, 1/3 cup lime juice and 1 cup water.
Pour mixture into popsicle molds and freeze until hard (around 8 hours.)

Bill Cunningham, New York's cultural anthropologist has been shooting for the New York Times Style section "On The Street" and "Evening Hours" mostly from his Schwinn bicycle for decades. He is a true artist who still lives in Carnegie Hall. (That is unless they managed to evict the last two artists in residence there.) His passion for the eccentricities of New York street style is what he lives and breathes for - he lives amongst every negative he has ever shot (which began in the 1960's) in filing cabinets that surround his single bed. I dare say he is THE original Satorialist. This film will make you fall in love with New York all over again ... help you see things in a new light, and remind you to look for the beauty in everything. Polite Pedicures
While there are many dodgy nail bars in New York, there are some fantastic spots too. Polaris is my personal favorite. The wallpaper is a gorgeous floral pattern, it's impeccably clean, quiet, and very spa like without spa prices. For a natural manicure, it's just $12. This modernist cube house is designed by Meka, a modern luxury housing company. MEKA is an acronyn for modular, environmental, kinetic and assembly. Meka was created by three friends, one a designer, one an architect, and the other a developer, looking to create well designed, alternative dwellings that could be made and sold at affordable prices. Their goal was to produce the most luxurious living spaces with a clean modern sensibility, at super affordable prices. I think this will be the way of the future for my generation ... our answer for a beach or country cabin. Somewhere a little more quaint than the Hamptons or Muskokas, on a tiny plot of land. Green Market Roasted Beet Salad

I try and frequent our local Union Square Green Market at least once every other week to pick up organic fruits, veggies and flowers. One of my current veggie obsessions are beets. They are delicious roasted atop a simple salad, cheese and a fresh vinaigrette - one of the best renderings I have enjoyed is at ABC Kitchen. I found the below recipe on Kelly Wearstler's blog and had to share.
Roasted Beets
Ingredients
10- 12 small beets
4 cloves of garlic, sliced thin
8 oz. delicious goat cheese
Olive Oil
Corse salt & freshly ground pepper
Fresh thyme, or any fresh herbs you like
Directions
Preheat oven to 400 F. Wash the beets well, remove greens and place in an oven-proof dish with garlic. Drizzle with olive oil, salt, pepper and thyme. Cover with foil and roast for about 25 minutes, or until you can easily slice a knife through the beet. When the beets are cool enough to handle, peel and slice into wedges. Toss beets with your favorite greens, fresh herbs, goat cheese and vinaigrette.
Vinaigrette
Ingredients
½ cup really good olive oil
1 tablespoon minced shallots
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
½ tablespoon lemon zest
2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon
Directions
Mix shallots, Dijon, lemon zest, lemon juice, salt and pepper in a small mixing bowl. Slowly whisk in olive oil until mixed well.

The High Line

The High Line was originally constructed in the 1930s, to lift dangerous freight trains off Manhattan's streets. The High Line is open as a public park, owned by the City of New York and operated by the NYC Department of Parks & Recreation. When all sections are complete, the High Line will be a mile-and-a-half-long elevated park, running through the West Side neighborhoods of the Meatpacking District, West Chelsea and Clinton/Hell's Kitchen. The High Line now runs from Gansevoort Street in the Meatpacking District to West 34th Street, between 10th & 11th Avenues. Section 1 of the High Line opened to the public on June 9, 2009, and runs from Gansevoort Street to West 20th Street. Section 2, between West 20th and West 30th Streets, just opened on June 8, 2011. A party celebrating the summer will be thrown on June 28th. The Lot is a public art, free events and family gathering space on 30th Street. Absolutely take a chic walk! The High Line
